Greetings unto the Kazei 5 mailing list. I am Michael Surbrook,
creator of the Kazei 5 setting. I first started to develop K5 in the
mid 1990s (probably around 1995), and was heavily influenced by the
game Shadowrun, and the anime and/or manga Akira, Appleseed,
Bubblegum Crisis, Battle Angel, Ghost in the Shell, and Silent Mobius.

The game has been though several face-to-face campaigns (of varying
quality), and had a fire-year run as a PBEM setting. Now, a year
after it ended, people have decided to restart the game. I may even
run another face-to-face game later in 2006.

As the "GM" my primary role is to ensure continuity, making me a bit
like a line editor. I also am the person to ask about plotting,
characters, and technology.

I run a number of NPCs, ranging from simple computer programmer
(David Lam) to a blue-skinned landlady (Sarah J Ferrari) to nigh-on
all-powerful esper weapons (Shion Nys and Ran). Seeing as the game is
set in Hong Kong, I suspect people will be more likely to encounter
David, Sarah, Marta Nys, and Ling Ling Li.

As a final note, I maintain the website. All corrections,
suggestions, articles, and artwork should be sent to me.
