I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- BLEAGH!!!! That's just a
disturbing mental image. Not that I dissaprove. It fits the world.
Yeah, I knew nanotech was involved in many manufacturing processes
Actually, what I meant was more introduction of Nanotech into everyday
life, or introducing new ways to use it. Self-repairing
cyborgs/droids/Boomers anyone?
For a pretty dark example - Nanotech in foods? In Ex Machina, in one of
their scenario/world settings called "Underworld 9", one of the corps
produces a Cola drink called Nan-O. Which the corp actually _advertise_
having nanomachines in the drink! The nanos supposedly circulate through
the body, cleaing clogged arteries, boosting the immune system, and
adjusting neurotransmitter and hormone levels to reduce migranes and
other complaints. And incidentally, the drink also creates an extremely
hard addiction for it, which the corp _doesn't_ advertise. Even worse,
the user's immune system becomes dependent on Nan-O. After a few months
of drinking it, you'd go into withdrawal trying to quit it, and your
body would be so weakened without it, that you might not survive the
process.
Just on possibility among many. They don't have to be all bad. But this
is a dystopia, and negative examples are easier to come by in the
literature.
