Yes she was beta-prototype, and so yes, it's entirely possible that she did 
not have a built in auto-termination date as the corp that made her would 
have fully intended to recycle her as soon as they were done testing her. 
Nevertheless, my feeling is that synths rarely live more than ten years even 
without a built-in auto-termination date. Moreover, Shoko would probably 
have gone back into the occupied Zone in search of Ayane and the others, and 
so there is a very good chance she met her end in conflict with Jinsei. As I 
said before, I could contrive something to have her alive and in Hong Kong 
five years later, but it couldn't help but feel contrived. Besides, in all 
honesty, her stories were very focused on the people in her life. I'm not at 
all sure what I would do with her in Hong Kong, without the people she'd 
come to love. No, as fond as I am of Shoko - anyone notice that several  new 
pieces of Shoko art have appeared in the K5 gallery since the campaign 
ended? - I think it's probably better at this point to just make a new 
character.
