This is presuming everyone around you is levitating buildings... In a  
setting such as this, you don't need to encounter those people -- and  
if you want to come in conflict with them, you do need to prepare.  
But this isn't a team book, where there's Doc as the runt of a team  
of 350-400 point espers and Alita-like 'borgs. He's not required to  
run in these same circles -- Sandra didn't.
